GI Joe Renegades: Tunnel Rat, Infiltrator

I still haven't made much of a dent in a box full of unopened GI Joe greatest figures ever made box. Today, I open Tunnel Rat. This is one of those toys that I would have had fun with twenty years ago. Tunnel Rat comes with a summers worth of fun accessories. The bomb diffusing robot could be sold as its own figure.

I am still trying to figure out if thats a frying pan, or something else. It has a folding handle, sort of.  Tunnel rat could have used a bigger back pack to fit all this stuff inside. So...

 "What is in the tunnel?"

Its sure dark in there!

Smells like humus.

GI Joe Renegades Scarlett Undercover Agent

Renegades Scarlett continues the amazing GI Joe line of the past year. This might be the first female figure that actually holds up to the strength of play of the male figures. Except for maybe her small wrists and hands, the figure functions and feels like a GI Joe toy should, solid and ready for any kind of punishment.

Low on accessories, but not on looks, Scarlett is quickly becoming one of the go to figures in my bin of action figures. Every time I go to play, figures like Shipwreck and Snake Eyes ask if she can come out too. Every angle of this toy looks good, I think the designers might have been channeling Emma Stone on the face design.

She's a smoking update to the classic look, keeping the design simple yet working in many of her past features. Again, with the solid updated design, she can do anything the other Joes can; sit, kick, and flip (without falling over or breaking).

Now it's off to target practice with her famous Crossbow shoot'n buddy Chewbacca.

GI Joe Renegades Cobra Trooper Infantry Guy

The GI Joe Renegades Cobra Trooper is one of the best modern renditions of a Cobra Trooper in years, because of its simplicity. Colors, helmet, mask, and gear, all are at appropriate levels for making a quality Cobra Trooper Infantry Guy (CTIG).

Its also neat to add that the Renegades cartoon toys fits right in with any of the other figures, so that you don't have to feel weird in combining teams. The weaponry is the only thing that seems to stand out different, as its rectangular and laser like.

I was tempted to troop build this guy, but GI Joe prices have sky rocketed from an awesome $6.99 to $10.99 in my area, making it real hard to decide. I may just get "one" more, and call it good. By the looks of the future, figures won't be getting much better than this anyways.

This guy begs for his own government issued motorcycle patrol car.  I can believe Snake Eyes going over 210mph, but getting caught? Wow, this trooper is really elite.

GI Joe Renegades: Airtight the Hostile Environmental Specialist

Airtight is my favorite GI Joe that I apparently know nothing about. He is found in the hard to get last wave of the Renegades line, which finally gives us an Airtight figure that both celebrates the classic and modern look.

I found him not at the store but by getting a case of figures through Hasbro's Toy Shop, and I have yet to see him in stores in Idaho. I still have my original Airtight, who is in extreme floppy condition. Its a miracle I was able to stand him up, or I guess he is just leaning heavily into his bad joints.

What I have always got wrong on Airtight was his backstory. I thought he was a Pilot, which is a pretty good guess given the suit, and "Air" in his name. Since I never had his file card, I originally found him loose in lucky peak reservoir, and had no backstory knowledge. I personally gave him secondary pilot chair, behind Slip Stream, and a slight water fetish, and that was that.

Turns out that he is actually a haz-mat guy, and now the "Well Duh!" comes to light. That makes more sense in SO many ways, as I don't remember him flying a plane in the old show (Of course, all GI Joes flew a Sky Striker at some point, so I guess they are all pilots).

It makes more sense that he was testing the hazardous contaminated waters of Lucky Peak's Sandy Point play area, before he fell in and sunk to the bottom and was caught by my foot. And it makes sense why he comes with all these air sensing tools.

Like the many other new GI Joe figures, he comes with way too much stuff to decide what he gets to hold. I really like the pack with the tank. His other pack has the hose that attaches to the air purifier, and for once the hose stays on via a longer peg. He has some spiffy wrist articulation too, that work well with that one hand instrument thingy. The figure's plastic feels a little squishy more than normal. Maybe all those chemicals he works with caused that. He slips of his display stand a little easily. His helmet though, fits very well.

Now I just need to get the Hazard Viper out, Airtight's mortal enemy. Airtight is making a strong case that I don't.

Not sure why I included this picture. Maybe it was the logistics of figure stacking. Or its my slight fever that is causing this whole post to feel a bit off to me. Airtight is doing good job carrying me through I guess.

If you can, get Airtight, he is a must.
