More images from Shipyards quest...

Shipyard is still lost in my backyard apparently.

The hunt for snow continues.

GI Joe Shipyard..er Shipwreck Arctic Threat in the Summer time

GI Joe toys are clearly the front runner action figure for the most bang for your hardly earned buck these days. I saw a misc super hero today without any joints, accessories, display base, or pet sold for 9.99? What kind of fun deal is that (Mattel)? Then there are GI Joe's sold around 6.99-8.99 full of weapons, display stands, and pets. They are fully jointed, sculpted to incredible detail, and all around kick-ass. This one is a Toys R Us exlcusive, that I have been eyeing for awhile, as I am a Shipwreck fan, okay okay, Polly fan. I also need to start assembling a snow team for the winter.

Right now, there is hardly any winter.

Shipyard must be dying in that down feather government issue jacket.

But heck, these snow shoes come in handy when walking curb trails.

A good GI Joe knows how to blend in, in any environment. Shipyard is not a good GI Joe.

Cobra Serpent / S.N.A.K.E. Battle Armor

Along with the A-Team van being on clearance so was this! Awesome deal too, I had been trying to find one of these for the past year, and always came up empty handed. The Serpent battle armor is so classic it stretches one's inner rubber bands.

Looks like a repaint of the white 1983 version, which terrorized GI Joes in a snow cave. The black looks way more menacing though, and less prone to pinkafying in the sun.

Loading the driver is kind of tricky. Almost reminiscent of fixing a GI Joe with a broken rubber band. You're holding on to the back plate, the two arms and the rest of the figure to snap everything into place. Funny thing is, once its all together, it looks the same with or with out the inner driver. I prefer without, as then I have another Cobra trooper.

Can you imagine the embarrassment being caught with your Serpent armor down?

The version matches the Cobra B.A.T.s really well. Maybe I should ebay a few more, they arn't too expensive yet.

GI Joe; The Rise of Cobra, XBox 360 and DS games

I am still into this movie?!?!

Believe it or not, these two games are great fun! Well, I am totally GI Joe biased, but really, these are great fun. I've played the DS version since X-mas nightly for many months straight. It reminds me of the old Guantlet games but with leveling up characters. Easy play, some what challenging levels, follows post movie, but with more Joes. It's fun to watch Polly fly around Shipwreck's shoulder. You can also drive a Mobat, HISS Tank, Armadillo, which really levels the playing field.

I just got the X-box version, before it disappears from the shelves, and I am overly pleased too. It follows the same story the DS game had, but with way better graphics. It's simple mindless fun, much like the old GI Joe arcade game. The camera awkwardly follows you around while you go on a somewhat straight path killing and blowing up stuff. Nice that the levels arn't overly complicated, and Bad guys are fairly easy to kill. Tons of action and explosions too, which is just like the GI Joe universe.

The best part is the vehicles...

Thats right, a GI styled Snowcat. I had a blast driving the thing in circles (as the controls for driving are bad), but it was still a ton of fun. I think I am getting the hang of it. The thing shots so many missiles! Somehow I righted the vehicle on its backside so I had to abandon it.

The game has a ton of Joes, all with unique weapons and abilities. There are always two Joes playing, which is nice that you're not alone out in battle. Note to self though, the Snake Eyes/Gung Ho team, not so good combo. Snakes has poor shooting, but great sword attack, but close range, and Gung Ho is just awful with his pea shooting boom stick. But other Joes work better, Heavy Duty and Duke are my go to guys usually.

The game follows post movie as well, with movie cast voice overs, dramatic music... OH YEAH, I forgot the BEST part!!! When you kill enough you get the accelerator suit power up. When you fire that up, it plays original cartoon series music in full brilliant force (He'll fight for freedom where ever there's trouble, GI Joe is there...) It sounds totally awesome on the surround sound! I wish they did that in the movie SO bad. Anyhow the game follows the M.A.S.S. device, and a little Weather Dominator panic, so its all good fun.

I totally recommend these games if you want mindless GI Joe fun.

GI Joe Combat Heroes

I'm still buying Rise of Cobra stuff? Yeah. Actually I found this a couple months ago, but since I am out of things to think about, here it is. They are at a reduced price too right now, so they are a little more worth then they usually are. I would never pay 6.99 for a set, but 3.99 meh, okay.

They actually put two leads in the same package. Usually they group these figures as significant figure with completely un-significant figure. A brilliant marketing tactic I guess. So Young Duck and Cobra Kidomander fighting together against each other. This might be the best CC around for this line. I like how the mask says only one scar across the forehead, and that's it. Makes the rest of his clean skin face mysterious. Unlike the completely burned off face of other toys.

So yeah, thats what I had to say about that today.

GI Joe; The Rise of Cobra, for being a bad guy Cobra Commander is not so bad.

I caved and bought a Cobra Commander. A few reasons;

1. Probably last chance, as they are starting to show thin on shelves.
2. He was reduced price.
3. I played CC in a level of GI Jo; The Rise of Cobra Nintendo DS game, and had fun.
4. He completes the set of movie figures.
5. To own one of the more silly CC versions ever.
6. Just curious if he looks any better out of the box.
7. Woke in the middle of the night thinking, why I passed him up many times.
8. Wanted a plastic Cobra pet.
9. Destro was lonely.
10. Couldn't wait for the better version from the next movie.

Surprisingly, yes he is better out of the box.

I think the most distracting feature is his silly coat. More on that later.

Those are spiffy shoes Cobra Commander!

He's no original, but he has plenty of room to evolve.

Add a blue helmet, and he is almost there. I bet they made his mask that way, as it has more texture, and is easier to film.

Yes, I recommend taking his silly jacket off, and go without. Looks more like a GI Joe figure.

And yes I tried, to pry and pry, but his clear helmet wouldn't come off.

GI Joe; The Rise of Cobra, Crimson Hydra

Ready to be bombarded with the Oh So Awesome Cobra Crimson Hydra images? I found one on clearance for ten bucks would you believe?

Such a beautiful craft, I am surprised it didn't sell better. Of course, I didn't buy one at full price either.

Its a repaint of a former series, Spy Troops, and then Valor vs. Venom. I can't believe I didn't buy it when it was in Stealth Black. That was a no brainer miss fire for sure. The red version is just as cool, and it fits perfectly with my Crimson Guard collections.

It looks to be styled after a stealth bomber, but with the usual impossible Cobra modifications

The back wings slide out so that it can fit in the packaging.

The top opens out for stabilizing and to reveal rocket launchers.

The Aero-Viper is so-so, has some neat gold detailing. I just noticed his helmet is removable, that bumps him up an extra star, looks to be a Firefly like head under there.

Now for the gimmick! An underbelly bomb?

No, a mini ship pod! Or a bomb with a pilot in it! Cobra has so many expendable men.

I wouldn't want to fly that pod. Certain doom. (Crimson Guard trooper not included)

So yeah, if you can find one, pick it up. It is one of the better vehicles I have run across in a while.

Damn, the bathroom floor is a great studio. Very nice shots coming out of the old steam digital camera.

Bye-bye!

GI Joe; The Rise of Cobra, Charbroil fix me Dinner!

I planned to be done with this line, but Charbroil was darn near perfect. Okay the shiny chrome mask got my attention big time.

Most GI Joe movie toys came out feeling very similar to one another, while Charbroil is in his own.

Looks like Bart is too drawn to the shininess of the helmet. Or maybe his knees.

Look out behind you!

Heads up!

It's Charbroil, and he's darn near perfect!
