SpongeBob SquarePants McDonalds Happy Meal Toy Review

Its 2012 Olympics time, and Spongebob is all up in it too this month at McDonalds.  I was on the road so I had limited review abilities. There are 16 to collect, I didn't feel the need to get them all this time as cool they are, I do not need that many different SB's.

Lego Marvel Avengers: Hulk's Helicarrier Break Out 6868

So my favorite Northwest local big box store (Fred Meyer) had Lego sets on sale, 15% off, plus additional 10% off with a coupon, IF you were savvy enough to pick through store ad. That made this normally overpriced set, feel a bit more regular priced. This set was necessity though, as I had to have a large Hulk for an upcoming video project. The kit contains 389 pieces and took me about an hour to build.

Hulk is massive indeed, but lacking in movement. I guess I can understand no leg joints or waist, but a head joint would have enhanced him.  I will make him work through the magic of Dan.

This overall set is kind of so-so. The minifigure distribution to these sets are horrible at best. Now I have two Hawkeye's and Loki. Nick Fury would have made more sense for this set (or the other Shield truck set). Heck even some helicarrier troops to sit up top. I would have preferred the helicarrier to have at least one turbine to play with too.  We do get a nice white recliner for Loki's staff to sit on though.

As for Loki's cell, that was probably the most eye-rolling ridiculous containment scene in the movie. Where were the sharks with lasers attached to their heads? When they said, it just drops really fast to the ground, I asked, "and?..." To make matters worse, this toy doesn't even do that, it just pops open by way of controls up on top.

This set does have a redeeming jet though. On the box it looked pretty weak, but alas, I have already flown it around the house hyper-fast several times. The little bubble canopy is shiny and catches light really well.

So, overall the Helicarrier Breakout does grow on me a little. Yes, a lot more could have been included, had they rearranged some ideas, but heck that's what your imagination is for with Lego.

Gold star to the inclusion of Space Invaders on the computer screen.

More Idaho Storm Chases

Some pretty good action from last weeks storm here in town by IDstormtroopers. We get kind of starved for good lightning around here (boise), so when it comes we watch, and drive towards it.

Nickelodeon Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Toy Review Leo Don and Kraang

Its the all new newer than new-new-new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! These were too nice to pass up, so I picked up a few to see whats up.  Like the originals, and then the re-originals, and then the live action originals, and then the newer takes on the originals, and then the future takes on the turtles, and then maybe now, Turtle toys have always been pretty radical. I like these three enough, I will get a few more. They look so good this time around. Articulated pretty well, although I just noticed my Don leg is a bit floppy already. I would pass on Kraang, he's kind of weak, unless you like brains. As for all the rest, I suggest you at least buy your favorite turtle.

G.I. Joe Sigma 6 Action Figure Toy Exhibit!

Sigma 6 feels like yesterday, but it was already over five plus years ago. I collected many figures and they mostly live life now in a plastic bin, and occasionally a few come out for shelf display. They really are fantastic figures, full of character and play. You really only need two for a full collection, as each one has so much to offer.  This 8" line is outside the norm for G.I. Joe, but they really worked fantastic for an Action Figure. In some cases the tough articulation and heavy feet allow the figures to do things that no other figure can do.

I hear the cartoon will be on the HUB soon, which I don't have at them moment, but I hope to watch all the episodes again somehow. I saw about half when they were originally aired, and actually liked them, for anime, I usually don't like. There might be an ancient TheToyMuseum post on how an epic two parter was interrupted for a baseball game. And they wonder why cartoons fail so easily.

Since I got this new fancy shmancy turn table, I thought it would be a good opportunity to test out on a collection like Sigma Six. Hope you don't throw up too much. Heavy Duty about wore down the batteries with his weight.

G.I. Joe Sigma 6 Exhibit - Coming Soon!

With some luck, a fancy G.I. Joe Sigma 6 Exhibit will appear tomorrow (or maybe Friday) here at Thetoymuseum. Stay tuned...

GI Joe Renegades: Tunnel Rat, Infiltrator

I still haven't made much of a dent in a box full of unopened GI Joe greatest figures ever made box. Today, I open Tunnel Rat. This is one of those toys that I would have had fun with twenty years ago. Tunnel Rat comes with a summers worth of fun accessories. The bomb diffusing robot could be sold as its own figure.

I am still trying to figure out if thats a frying pan, or something else. It has a folding handle, sort of.  Tunnel rat could have used a bigger back pack to fit all this stuff inside. So...

 "What is in the tunnel?"

Its sure dark in there!

Smells like humus.

Wait, I think I see something!

Just a little closer...

Is it? I think it is...

A Tunnel Rat!

Star Wars Fighter Pods Series 2 Blind Bag Opening

It was 108 degrees today, so I hit the AC store toy aisle and got stuff to amuse me. Heck even some more Fighter Pods should do the trick. With Series 2 out, I could avoid repeats, so I got a couple bags. Not the most exciting of results. I am going to have to spring for that AT-AT pack some day.

Blue Power Rangers

Idstromtroopers dug through massive amount of tonnage of toy to get to this Blue Time Force Ranger. As soon as I saw the cell phone pic, I said I says "Me Like the Blue Power Ranger!"  You see, I collect blue Power Rangers. Mostly because its my favorite color, and not because I identify with David Yost's lifestyle (not that there is anything wrong with that).

This Ranger actually comes with a bike and weapons, but those are long destroyed. What's funny about this toy is that his legs appear backwards. I am sure it was designed that way so he could sit on a bike, but when you want to stand him flat footed, you need to rotated them 180˚.

This figure of course reset my mad ability to not let toy ideas go, and has restarted my urge to collect all blue Power Rangers toys. At least one from each series. I quickly panicked, and ran to the store remembering that a blue Power Rangers Samurai has been on the shelves for months, and I didn't want to miss my chance.

Phew! This version, besides the previous Classic Blue Power Ranger is one of the better designs. He has good articulation, nice sized weaponry, and good overall play value. The sword has a nice long peg for belt fitting.

So here is my Blue Power Ranger collection to this date. I really need to catch up!

If you would like to help me, and have any on the list below, PLEASE, let me know. I will pay top dollar, up to ten, for any conditioned Blue Rangers.  I urge you to go through your little brothers collection bins, older sisters jewelry boxes, uncle Lloyds fishing tackle boxes, and find me the missing spots! Especially a girly girl Mystic Force light blue Ranger.

Ice Age 4 Continental Drift McDonalds Happy Meal Toys Complete Set of 6 Review

I really like this months selection of Ice Age toys. They have a nice style to them, and there is fun to be had with the iceberg stands. They break into pieces, and with enough blocks, you can build a really long boat. Good design Happy Meal.

Cobra Sucks! Happy 4th of July!

In other news, this is Heavy Duty's haul of works this year. About 46 dollars spent, plus a few from last year. This getting too expensive!!!

Star Wars Storm and Clone Troopers Exhibit

Here is an exhibit of Star Wars Storm and Clone troopers I have amassed, and in time to plug a friends blog IDStormTroopers. No we don't dress up as Storm Troopers and run around on windy lightning days, we just troop out during a storm and film it.
