Some Hot Wheels I've been collecting...

Twin Mill III

Hotwheels are awesome right now. For only a buck you get a very cool toy with little buyers remorse. Plus you get to race them! I keep finding cool ones to play with at lunch. I love the sparkle on the above green one. Also the sleek design. My orange one has a top time on my Batman race track, I'll have to test this one soon.

'56 Merc

I must be drawn to green? This one reminds me of a Micro Machine I have somewhere. First Hot Wheel I have bought with an opening hood in a long time. Do you know that opening hoods, and doors give the car the ability to fly?

Elementals; Air and Water

As much as I am a sucker for shiny things, clear things are also drawn am I too. I saw the Fire and Earth the other day, will have to pick up next.

Invader

I saw it once, passed, was upset. Saw it again in color changer style, complained, friend over heard, found this one, gave to me on day after birthday. Awesome!

Bone Shaker

Way different than my usual selection, I really like the skull grill.

See you next time.

Robot vs. Panther

I have been itching to do some stop motion the last few weeks and finally found a full free Saturday to play. I set up a nice clean table, some lights (which I guess I need even more), charged some batteries, and started taking photos. I shot about 222 pictures for this short. My biggest mistake was using too high of a resolution for my pictures, as they were kind of fat. I wanted to build in Flash, but it just wasn't happening, so I moved to Photoshop, which has an okay animation feature. Just a ton of layers, and eyeballs to click on and off. I learned lots and if there is a next time, I hope to have the lights less distracting (camera capturing issue) and smoother movement. Overall lots of fun. Now I am wiped out for some reason. :)

Let's Play, Value this Star Wars Collection!

Dear Internet,

These are my new best friend's Star Wars collection. I am assigned to see if it's of any value. I see a few figures that have some possible coin; mail away Emperor, Old Obi-Wan, Boba Fett maybe, and AT-AT pilot. I was guessing it would sell around $40-60.00 on ebay.

What do you think?

Dan

What about that guy?

The Bounty Hunter! Review

huh...(eye twitch). It turns out The Bounty Hunter had nothing to do with Star Wars (eye twitch) Bounty Hunters. It was a somewhat strange romantic action comedy staring Jennifer Aniston and Gerald Butler, who was not Jango Fett, but just a once cop now turned Bounty Hunter. Fett... er Butler was hunting his ex for bounty while she dim wittedly hunts a story. Besides it not being associated with Star Wars it was an okay movie. I think critics panned it overall, but hey this obviously isn't a court room drama here. You kind of know what your getting into when you seen the trailers, minus the really cool bounty hunters. I found it a fun distraction, all be it a little long. Jason Sudeikis from SNL had a funny supporting character, taking many painful hits. So I guess the wait continues for a Star Wars themed movie on Bounty Hunters, or a least The Chronicles of Lando Calrissian starring Donald Faison.

The Bounty Hunter!

I am so excited! The Bounty Hunter finally hit theaters this weekend! I am surprised no one in the geek world has really talked up this movie yet. Well I am going tonight, and will cover an extensive review tomorrow. Man, Gerard Butler as Jango? Awesome! I hope IG-88 and Boba Fett throw down! I am dressing up as Bossk as I type.

Ninja versus Ninja catastrophe averted!

A few weeks back I showed off this great new game Ninja versus Ninja. I remember those days, young, bright eyed, ready to take on the world. I bought the game for our weekly board game day play at lunch time on fridays. I figured, it would be a good two player game to play, which is good as we only have two players. So what happens the first game? I loose. No big deal really, we were just learning the game. The technical issues of how and when to use your Shadow Ninja and what a 180 and a L move were figured out. So the next week rolls by and we play two games... and I loose. I don't just loose either, I get totally annihilated. Now Sideshow, my fellow gamer, will say I played stupid on that second game. But I will say I was already down most of my ninjas and a defensive strategy was my only hope. Really the game feels like if the rolls of the dice go your way, you win. If they don't, well, you loose. So week three comes up. I am now 0-3. Odds say I will win a game, so we play three more games. I loose all three, 0-6! One of those three another complete annihilation, but one game a almost close win, but still no win. Was I playing a mastermind or was the game cursed? I decided the game was cursed and challenged Sideshow that if he won the next four games, sending me to 0-10, I would give him the game, as I wanted nothing to do with it! So today we play, and what happens... I loo... WIN! Finally the dice go my favor and I win two games! I am now 2-6! I am not a complete looser anymore, and I can be happy in owning this game. Sideshow just couldn't get the rolls he kept getting in the first 6 games. I am a little bummed that it didn't go to 0-9 though, I wanted to tape that showdown for Youtube. Hats of to Sideshow though who took loosing much better than my cry baby ass.

Uncle Iron Monger

Some left over Iron Monger photos. I like his size, he's bigger than the others, but not super huge.

He could cut back on the canned hams though.

Bwa?! Who dares frighten Iron Monger!!!

Iron Man 2; Movie Series Iron Monger, has a nice butt.

I think I am like the tenth person to show off their Iron Monger, so I should show a different angle to differentiate my blogs content. And what better angle is Iron Monger's butt. Pretty hot huh! I wonder what that small circle is for?

Okay okay enough with his butt, so here is his package. Number 7 in the series, he's big and beefy ready to sit on poor Iron Man.

I apologize for this blog post, its dinner time, I'm hungry for some Iron Monger.

Oh-No! Their is something wrong with my Malibu Stacey!

Notice his 'third' eye. :)

Yeah? I am War Machine!

Watch me fire my missiles!

Look at my hinged shoulder covers, I can move my arms out now.

War Machine is my second Iron Man 2 toy. He is #23 from the comic series. I guess I have yet to buy a figure from the new movie. This one has really solid joints, and are tough to move them. I can't figure out his ball hip joints, I don't think he sits, but squats. I really like how smooth his back shoulder weaponry works. Back in the day they would be an action feature, and that would alter the look of the toy to something silly. Now the weapons can be positioned in a million different ways by hand. The two color weaponry fires look nice too.

What? This is normal right?

Two funny original Transformers moments.

I lent my friend King Kendor the first three episodes of Transformers, and that same day he made this video. Kendor is good at finding funny moments that you otherwise would look over and not think about. Its all about the attention to detail.

Iron Man 2; Comic Series Iron Man!

Early waves of Iron Man figures are showing up in stores and dang do they look cool! Hasbro has really put their suits together on this one, with figures from not only the new movie, but from the last movie, and the comic books. These toys will fill the void in an other wise noneventful toy year.

I had to repackage him as I couldn't wait to get him home for package photos. The early Mark 1 suits look so real, they could almost be metal. Ooh, that would be a neat idea too, hint hint.

I chose #22 here to be my first, as the early prototypes are so industrial rad. From what I have seen around the toy blogosphere, I am not alone on liking this style. The Iron Man toys come with spiffy display bases that hold suit specific cards. The cards are unique as they are transparent and layer the appendages of the suit. The Paint application is crazy cool weathered and slightly rusted.

This Iron Man suit must be the one where Tony Stark leaves propped up against the old rusty shed in the backyard. His backside is less rusted than the front.

He's pretty bendy for a Mark .5 or what ever he classifies to. This figures hands are a little shaky, but when rotated to rub against forearms, they become tight. His other joints are pretty tight, and takes lots of steam to get him to bend just right.

Did I mention Iron Man is 3 and 3/4" to match with GI Joe, Star Wars, and everything else in this era of expensive plastic?

No?

Iron Man is 3 and 3/4" to match with GI Joe, Star Wars, and everything else in this era of expensive plastic

Most figures come with a little extra explosive action! This one could be interpreted kind of foul, so be careful how he uses it.

I would say four out of five My Little Ponies for this figure, I hope to find more soon.

Maxing the number of GI Joe's on a Vehicle 2, the H.A.V.O.C.

Not to be upstaged by Cobra engineering, the classic GI Joe H.A.V.O.C hauling a tow truck which hauls a broken down AWE Striker hauls an impressive 25 GI Joes.

So Bart says, throw some attacking Cobra's on, see how many we can haul now?

The chaos is too much to count!

The party on the AWE striker is out of control!

Some poor Viper even got run over. (Can you believe one of the rubber bands broke to my some what new Viper squad!)

Controversy erupts weather Storm Shadows dragging method by a wire counts as a carry.

I want to say the max haul is 42 with a dog, that will be hard to beat!

Maxing the number of GI Joe's on a Vehicle

Every true fan of GI Joe knows the best vehicles hold the most figures. We start this new series with the Cobra A.P.V. transporting both Cobra operatives and attacking GI Joes. Carrying 14 figures and one snake, this transport is an accomplishment of advanced Cobra engineering.

GI Joe; The Rise of Cobra, for being a bad guy Cobra Commander is not so bad.

I caved and bought a Cobra Commander. A few reasons;

1. Probably last chance, as they are starting to show thin on shelves.
2. He was reduced price.
3. I played CC in a level of GI Jo; The Rise of Cobra Nintendo DS game, and had fun.
4. He completes the set of movie figures.
5. To own one of the more silly CC versions ever.
6. Just curious if he looks any better out of the box.
7. Woke in the middle of the night thinking, why I passed him up many times.
8. Wanted a plastic Cobra pet.
9. Destro was lonely.
10. Couldn't wait for the better version from the next movie.

Surprisingly, yes he is better out of the box.

I think the most distracting feature is his silly coat. More on that later.

Those are spiffy shoes Cobra Commander!

He's no original, but he has plenty of room to evolve.

Add a blue helmet, and he is almost there. I bet they made his mask that way, as it has more texture, and is easier to film.

Yes, I recommend taking his silly jacket off, and go without. Looks more like a GI Joe figure.

And yes I tried, to pry and pry, but his clear helmet wouldn't come off.

The Secret Saturdays... on a Wednesday

Never got a chance to see this show, as we cut the cable to save money on well... this.

The set caught my eye months ago, as it looked to be a revival of Mighty Max. I commend Mattel for trying to bring back an old successful toy theme. These sets are the best thing to have when you have to take a high profile client to some boring dinner party. While they yammer on about stocks and bonds, you can crack open a miniature set of super fun. The show must of done really well, as I found this set on clearance the other day for around a fiver.

So, not knowing anything about the show, story, or toy, here is my take of what you are supposed to do with it. You first set the head on a flat surface and bobble it around on its roundish base. You can say things like, "I am the great lord Cherufe and this is my Lava Lair!" followed by, "I'm Zak, you can't defeat me!"

So we open the set up to reveal a molten volcanic rock world with a Lizard and a boy with a fireproof suit.

And what is Zak to do, to the evil lizard? Steal his eggs of course!

Then what should Zak do? Maybe climb the tall volcano, and push a "Ice Boulder" down the mountain knocking poor evil Lizard off the mountain...

and into a pool of lava where he will split into two and drown.

That was sure nice of Zak to do that. Seems kind of evil, maybe I got the sides wrong on this.

Anyhow, in an act of last action feature, Zak decides to slide down the "Volcano Slide" and crack his head open on the otherwise useless side of the playset.

I think I will stick with Mighty Max, this set was so lame.
